Daisy Mae’s Kitchen is a celebration of authentic soul food, steeped in tradition and rooted in the heart of the Lowcountry, South Carolina. Founded on recipes that have been passed down through six generations, Daisy Mae’s Kitchen is more than just a place to eat—it’s a family legacy, a love letter to Southern cuisine, and a warm embrace of home-cooked comfort.
At the helm is Chef Fonda Byerson, a 6th-generation chef who learned the art of soulful cooking under the watchful eyes of her grandmother, Daisy Mae, and her mother, Betty Byerson. From an early age, Fonda was immersed in the kitchen, soaking in the love, technique, and stories that flavored every dish. These recipes have been lovingly preserved, honoring the family’s rich culinary heritage.
Chef Fonda honed her skills working in a variety of dining facilities, perfecting the craft of combining fresh, local ingredients with the timeless techniques passed down from her ancestors. Ten years ago, she realized her dream by opening Daisy Mae’s Kitchen alongside her partner Bertha Byerson. Together, they brought their passion for soul food to life, creating a place where everyone is welcome, and every bite feels like a hug from home.
At Daisy Mae’s Kitchen, our commitment to quality and freshness is unwavering. We believe that food is not just about sustenance—it’s about feeding the soul. Whether it’s our tender collard greens, slow-cooked ribs, or cornbread just like Grandma used to make, every dish tells the story of love, tradition, and dedication.
When you dine with us, you’re not just enjoying a meal—you’re becoming part of our family, sharing in the traditions that have made Daisy Mae’s Kitchen a beloved fixture in the community.
